Volleyball Recap: Springstead Takes a Loss

Springstead lost against Hernando back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eagles fell just short of the Leopards by a score of 3-2. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Leopards 25-13 in the first set.

Springstead actually scored more points across those five sets (109-101), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 16-14.

Despite the loss, Springstead saw an underclassman step up: freshman Grace Montanez had 20 digs and two aces. Those 20 digs set a new season-high mark for Montanez.

This is the second loss in a row for Springstead and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Hernando, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-6.

Springstead didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Hernando Christian Academy on the 15th. As for Hernando, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Lecanto on the 12th.
