Preview: Osmond/Randolph Hawks vs. Homer Knights
The Osmond/Randolph Hawks will take on the Homer Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Thursday, Osmond/Randolph ended up a good deal behind Plainview and lost 43-25. While losing is never fun, Osmond/Randolph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Plainview is ranked 92nd).
Keli Aschoff put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Erin Wagner, who scored seven points.
Homer suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 63-38 loss at the hands of Kingsley-Pierson.
Despite the loss, Homer saw an underclassman step up: Lilly Harris scored 17 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Harris scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Hightree, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Homer struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Osmond/Randolph and nudges their season record down to 3-13. As for Homer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Osmond/Randolph have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Homer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
