Welch was the 40-22 winner over Bluejacket when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Welch Wildcats were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 31-30 to the Bluejacket Chieftains. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Welch's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Bluejacket, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-16.

Welch will host Afton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Afton will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Welch surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bluejacket, they will head out on the road to square off against Wesleyan Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
