Softball Recap: North Decatur Takes a Loss

North Decatur had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 11-10 to make it four. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Hancock Royals. If the Chargers were looking for revenge after losing 17-1 to the Royals when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

North Decatur got a massive performance out of Kendall Hostkoetter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. E Wilson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Eastern Hancock, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

On Eastern Hancock's side, Nieko Engleking looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Lilli Ringer was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Addisyn Trackwell, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

Looking ahead, North Decatur will face off against Southwestern at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eastern Hancock, they will take on Centerville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
