Recap: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. Providence Pioneers
The Floyd Central Highlanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Providence 60-56. While losing is never fun, Floyd Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Providence is ranked 60th).
When it comes to explaining why Floyd Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brock Conrad. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Conrad's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Landon Reed was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Floyd Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Providence, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floyd Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bloomington South at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Bloomington South will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Providence, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Holy Cross at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Holy Cross knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Providence likes a good challenge.
