Softball Recap: Brown County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Brown County can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against the North Greene Spartans as they made off with a 16-9 win. Considering the Hornets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Brown County got a massive performance out of Nena Boylen, who went 4-for-6 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Boylen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ranessa Wort, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Brown County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Brown County's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for North Greene, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brown County will host Sacred Heart-Griffin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for North Greene, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jacksonville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
