Basketball Preview: Fivay Falcons vs. Steinbrenner Warriors

The Fivay Falcons will face off against the Steinbrenner Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Steinbrenner took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Fivay, who comes in off a win.

Fivay is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Hudson: they outscored them in every quarter. Fivay found their leader in sophomore Dominick Walsh, who went 6 for 10 en route to 18 points plus eight assists and five rebounds. What's more, Walsh also racked up four threes, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Tyshawn James, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points plus two steals.

Fivay was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hudson only racked up seven.

Meanwhile, Steinbrenner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 68-39 loss at the hands of Gaither.

Despite their defeat, Steinbrenner saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tyler Goggan, who scored nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Douglas Jordan was another key player, earning six points in addition to eight rebounds and two blocks.

Fivay's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Steinbrenner, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
