Recap: Lutheran Cougars vs. Rolla Bulldogs
On Friday, the Lutheran Cougars faced the Rolla Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lutheran secured a 63-58 W over Rolla. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Rolla's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Willow Gideon, who scored 21 points along with two steals. Gideon is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Resa Martin, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
The win was the third in a row for Lutheran, bringing their record for this year to 13-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Rolla, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lift for Life Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. Lift for Life Academy will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive. As for Rolla, they will head out on the road to challenge Parkview at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Parkview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Thursday.
