Softball Recap: Gouverneur Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Gouverneur won against Massena last Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Wildcats beat the Hermon-DeKalb Central Demons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Renisa Richards spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Arianna Wood, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Besaw, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Gouverneur pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Gouverneur will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lowville at 10:00 a.m. on May 10. Hermon-DeKalb Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
