Softball Recap: Toms River South Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Toms River North, Toms River South was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 15-12 win over the Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their two-run performance the match before.

Sophia Colon and Addison Tuper did most of the damage at the plate: Colon went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Tuper went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Tuper a new career-high. Kassidy Colangelo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Toms River South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Toms River South's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Point Pleasant Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Toms River South will square off against Brick Memorial at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Point Pleasant Beach, they will face off against Neptune at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
