Basketball Recap: Marie Philip's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Marie Philip is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of American School for the Deaf. The Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts took down the American School for the Deaf Tigers 50-35. The Galloping Ghosts' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Marie Philip's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier DeLeon led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. DeLeon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 38 games he's played dating back to last season. Alexander Forfa was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.

Marie Philip's record is now 8-0. As for American School for the Deaf, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marie Philip will take on Newman in a holiday battle at at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. American School for the Deaf and Varsity Opponent will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
