Baseball Recap: Aitkin Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Aitkin's offense. They lost 6-0 to the Proctor Rails on Thursday. The Gobblers have struggled against the Rails recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Aitkin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Rikala, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double was Rikala's first of the season.

Aitkin's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Proctor, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Aitkin and Proctor should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. The Gobblers will face off against Pine City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (51 vs. 268). Meanwhile, Proctor (ranked 69th) will meet Warroad (ranked 201st) at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
