Basketball Recap: Oconee County Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Oconee County extended their home winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Julie Azeltine. The Oconee County Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cherokee Bluff Bears on Tuesday, sneaking past 49-46 thanks in part to Azeltine, who posted 22 points and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Oconee County's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Miller, who earned ten points. Those ten points gave her a new career-high.

Oconee County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Cherokee Bluff, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-7 record.

Oconee County will square off against Monroe Area at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Monroe Area has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Cherokee Bluff, they will welcome Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Cherokee Bluff surely won't give up without a fight.
