Basketball Recap: Mattoon Victorious

The third road matchup was the charm for Mattoon, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top against the Hillsboro Hiltoppers by a score of 66-53 on Monday.

When it comes to explaining why Hillsboro lost, don't look at Nathan Matoush. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds. The game was Matoush's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Tony White was another key player, going 6 for 9 en route to 17 points.

Mattoon's victory bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Hillsboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Mattoon will challenge Pana at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th. As for Hillsboro, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-56 loss against Greenville on the 21st.
