Softball Recap: Malden Green Wave vs. East Prairie Eagles
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Malden and East Prairie, and Malden kept the tradition alive. The Green Wave were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Eagles on Saturday. Considering the Green Wave have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Alyssa Broom was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Jaylee Brown was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carsyn Cohen, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Malden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Malden has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for East Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
