Baseball Recap: Carbondale Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After losing to Murphysboro the last time they met, Carbondale decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Terriers walked away with a 9-5 win over the Red Devils on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Terriers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ryan Perrott was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Schimpf, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyler Karayiannis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Carbondale's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Murphysboro, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-9.

Looking ahead, Carbondale will welcome Johnston City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Murphysboro, they will head out to challenge Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
