Softball Game Preview: St. Edmund Fighting Blue Jays vs. Pine Prairie Panthers

St. Edmund hasn't had much luck against Pine Prairie recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The St. Edmund Fighting Blue Jays will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pine Prairie Panthers at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, St. Edmund was able to grind out a solid win over Holy Savior Menard, taking the game 15-12. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Blue Jays.

Meanwhile, Pine Prairie had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Pirates a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Pine Prairie pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Edmund, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
