Baseball Recap: East Side Victorious

East Side posted their closest win since May 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Plainfield Cardinals.

Kelvin Ramos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, East Side's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jose Rodriguez Jr., who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Rodriguez Jr. has posted since back in April. Jhoan Ventura also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

East Side's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Plainfield, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Side will venture away from home to challenge Golda Och Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Golda Och Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something East Side will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Plainfield, they will face off against Union Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
