Ralston Valley senior Collin Root boots the Mustangs past Eaglecrest on final play, in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs.

We're guessing Collin Root will now be referred to in the halls at Ralston Valley (Arvada, Colo.) as Collin Boot - with a capital B.

Root booted a 56-yard field goal as time expired Friday night, to give the Mustangs a 44-43 victory against Eaglecrest (Aurora) in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs.

The undefeated Mustangs (11-0) will take on Fairview (Boulder, Colo.) in the quarterfinals. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Root, who also excels as a tight end and defensive end for Ralston Valley, told Neil Devlin of The Denver Post that "during warm-ups, I was pushing it left."

As you can see from the video, Root's effort had plenty of height and distance and cleared the uprights as the game clock hit 0:00.0.
