Volleyball Recap: Southwestern Takes a Loss

Southwestern suffered their biggest loss since October 24, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Cuba City Cubans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Southwestern was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-17, 25-19.

Megan Roepsch paced Southwestern's offense, picking up six kills. Roepsch got some help from Alyssa Shelliam and her 12 assists.

Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Cuba City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Southwestern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Boscobel on the 13th. As for Cuba City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against West Salem on the 11th.
