Football Recap: Mount Vernon Majors vs. Centreville Wildcats
After flying high against Freedom last Friday, Mount Vernon came back down to earth. The Majors took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centreville Wildcats on Friday. The Majors haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centreville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Will Shields, who threw for 256 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt, and also punched in two scores on the ground. Cardin Stover was Shields' top target, picking up four receiving yards.
Mount Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Centreville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Mount Vernon has already played their next game, a 59-0 win against Lewis on the 26th. As for Centreville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 35-28 victory against Washington-Liberty on the 26th.
