Softball Recap: Smithville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Smithville couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Salado Eagles by a score of 5-3 on Friday. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Smithville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Otto, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Smithville's loss dropped their record down to 25-6-1. As for Salado, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season.

While Smithville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
