Recap: Lecanto Panthers vs. Crystal River Pirates
The Lecanto Panthers stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Crystal River 65-10 on the road. With Lecanto ahead 38-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Lecanto's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ijyana Edwards, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Edwards has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bryleigh Florio, who scored 13 points along with six steals.
Lecanto has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Crystal River, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.
Lecanto won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Citrus at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Citrus will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 538th, while Lecanto is ranked 143rd). As for Crystal River, they will head out on the road to square off against Hernando at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hernando has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
