Middlesex extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 11-4 in the process. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the North Hunterdon Lions. This was payback for the Bluejays, who suffered a 4-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

As for North Hunterdon, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-11 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 23, 2024.

For North Hunterdon's part, Tim Raiello was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs Raiello has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, North Hunterdon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Politi, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that Politi has hit this season.
