Softball Preview: Forest Wildcats vs. Vanguard Knights
Forest and Vanguard are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Forest Wildcats will challenge the Vanguard Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Monday, everything went Forest's way against Lake Weir as Forest made off with a 13-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Forest.
Reagan Quinn made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Quinn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Forest got a massive performance out of Ashlynn Canganelli, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Canganelli is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. Rilynn Fountain was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Vanguard got the win against North Marion on Monday by a conclusive 12-4.
The win got Forest back to even at 7-7. As for Vanguard, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
