Basketball Recap: Mercer Takes a Loss

If Mercer was riding high fresh off their 60-26 takedown of Butternut last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mercer Tigers were beaten by the Tomahawk Hatchets 84-34 on Thursday.

Mercer dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Tomahawk, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Mercer and Drummond will face off at 5:45 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Tomahawk, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rhinelander at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Rhinelander knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Tomahawk likes a good challenge.
