Pine View has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Pine View Panthers and the Cyprus Pirates will round out the year against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. One thing working in Pine View's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Even though Desert Hills scored an imposing 58 points on Wednesday, Pine View still came out on top. Pine View strolled past Desert Hills with points to spare, taking the game 73-58.
It was another big night for Nash Schroeder, who scored 32 points along with six rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Pine View's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Condie, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cyprus' seven-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-40 win over West. That looming 56-40 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Cyprus yet this season.
Cyprus found their leader in underclassman Koli Fosita, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Fosita pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Beckham Bayles, who scored 18 points.
Pine View's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Cyprus, their win bumped their record up to 1-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pine View have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Cyprus, though, as they've been averaging only 23.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
