Baseball Recap: Centennial Find Success

Centennial hadn't done well against Frontier recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Golden Hawks came out on top against the Titans by a score of 9-4. This was a revenge game for the Golden Hawks: when they faced off against the Titans on Monday, they had to take a 9-6 defeat.

Centennial gave Ross Rocha the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Alex Hughes was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Centennial's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 9-11-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Ishida, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Centennial is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-13-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Frontier, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-13-1.

Centennial will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Titans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
