Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mississinewa

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mississinewa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Oak Hill Golden Eagles. The win was nothing new for the Indians as they're now sitting on three straight.

Lilah Greer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jarrah Tegarden and Amiyaa Parr-Inman did most of the damage at the plate: Tegarden went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Parr-Inman went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Allie Trejo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mississinewa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Mississinewa's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Oak Hill, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-5 record.

Mississinewa and Oak Hill should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Indians (ranked 57th) will meet Blackford (ranked 214th) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Oak Hill will face off against Caston at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (112 vs. 312).
