Volleyball Recap: Kenai Central Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Soldotna

Kenai Central faced Soldotna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Kardinals fell 2-0 to the Stars. The Kardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Stars earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Sophie Tapley paced Kenai Central's offense, picking up four kills. Tapley got some help from Gracee Every and her eight assists. Tapley also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Mia Settlemyer, each putting up two.

Kenai Central's loss dropped their record down to 29-10-5. As for Soldotna, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-13 record this season.

Kenai Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against North Pole on the 24th. As for Soldotna, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Chugiak on the 25th.
