Basketball Game Preview: Westwood Panthers vs. Fairfield Eagles

The Westwood Panthers will face off against the Fairfield Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Westwood's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.

Last Friday, Westwood took their game with ease, bagging an 83-16 victory over Groesbeck. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Westwood found their leader in sophomore Kavian Bryant, who went 11 of 20 on his way to 30 points and four steals. Bryant's evening made it 27 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Chris Carter was another key player, going 6 for 9 en route to 17 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Fairfield ended up a good deal behind Mexia on Tuesday and lost 70-53. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 853rd, while the Black Cats are ranked 369th).

Westwood is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 41 points. As for Fairfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Westwood strolled past Fairfield in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 81-66. Does Westwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fairfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
