Baseball Recap: Lincoln East Spartans vs. Millard North Mustangs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lincoln East had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the Millard North Mustangs 5-4. Winning may never get old, but Lincoln East sure is getting used to it with their 17th in a row.

Lincoln East got a great performance from Carter Mick as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Mick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Garrett Springer, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeter Worthley, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Lincoln East's victory bumped their record up to 30-1. As for Millard North, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-18.

Lincoln East will challenge Lincoln Southwest at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln East is looking to tack on another W to their 12-game streak on the road dating back to last season. As for Millard North, they will square off against Millard South at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
