Preview: Blue Ridge Christian Bears vs. Shenandoah Valley Academy Stars
The Blue Ridge Christian Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Shenandoah Valley Academy Stars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Blue Ridge Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
Last Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Blue Ridge Christian beat Ridgeview Christian 45-39. Given Blue Ridge Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Ridgeview Christian is ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blue Ridge Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Faith Brunk, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Callie Paradzinski, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, sadly, Shenandoah Valley Academy is still looking for their first win of the season after seven matches. They were dealt a 50-16 defeat at the hands of Takoma Academy on Saturday.
Blue Ridge Christian's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Shenandoah Valley Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Blue Ridge Christian against Shenandoah Valley Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2023 as the team secured a 49-16 win. With Blue Ridge Christian ahead 32-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.
