Basketball Recap: Wauseon Indians vs. Springfield Blue Devils

The Wauseon Indians waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 62-46 victory over Springfield. Given Wauseon's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 513th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Springfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Adams. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Adams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Taylor, who scored nine points.

Wauseon pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Springfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wauseon will challenge the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Polar Bears at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th.
