Basketball Recap: Mathis Comes Up Short

Mathis was the 56-46 winner over Zapata when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 47-46 to the Hawks. The contest marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Mathis' defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Zapata, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Mathis has already played their next game (against Ben Bolt), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Zapata, they will head out to challenge Rio Grande City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
