Softball Game Preview: Stafford Indians vs. North Stafford Wolverines

The Stafford Indians will challenge the North Stafford Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Friday just wasn't the day for Stafford's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastern View on Friday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Indians were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, North Stafford unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 5-2 to Riverbend. Wolverines fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bears since on Friday.

Kaylie DeChicchis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, North Stafford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Lizardo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Hailey Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Stafford's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for North Stafford, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

North Stafford's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Stafford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for North Stafford, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Stafford's hitters?
