Football Game Preview: Guilford Vikings vs. St. Rita Mustangs + Official Tickets

The Guilford Vikings will square off against the St. Rita Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Guilford sitting on eight straight victories and St. Rita on three.

On Friday, Guilford humbled Boylan Catholic with a 52-7 victory. Considering the Vikings have won five matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, St. Rita got their first taste of in-conference action on Friday and they started things off strong. They enjoyed a cozy 38-21 win over IC Catholic Prep.

Guilford better keep an eye on Brandon Johnson Jr.. He was instrumental in St. Rita's win, rushing for 158 yards and three TDs. Johnson Jr. has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 2-4 otherwise.

St. Rita was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

One reason for the win was St. Rita's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. IC Catholic Prep's QB won't forget Josiah Sutton anytime soon given he sacked him 3.5 times. Another thorn in the Knights' side was Jack Schapendonk, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles.

Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for St. Rita, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Guilford was dealt a bruising 45-3 loss at the hands of St. Rita in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Vikings, Nick Herman (who rushed for 134 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, and also picked up 46 receiving yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time.
