Softball Recap: Rye Cove Eagles vs. Castlewood Blue Devils

Rye Cove was the 13-0 winner over Castlewood when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 6-5 on Monday.

Allison Akers was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Morgan Edwards was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracen Chavez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Rye Cove's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Castlewood, their win bumped their record up to 2-9.
