Softball Recap: Franklin Pierce Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Franklin Pierce's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Eatonville Cruisers with a sharp 17-6 win. Considering the Cardinals have won seven matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Leila Kennach and Kiley Sledge were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Kennach pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Sledge struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Kennach went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Sledge went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Franklin Pierce got a big performance out of Kallie Sullivan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Gade, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Franklin Pierce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eatonville only posted an OBP of .385.

Franklin Pierce pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Eatonville, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Franklin Pierce will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cruisers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
