Volleyball Recap: Maleah Evans and Hailey Graham Secure Win for Walnut Grove

Walnut Grove won the last time they faced Melissa and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wildcats walked away with a 3-1 win over the Cardinals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

While Walnut Grove might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Melissa scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22.

Leading Walnut Grove to victory were Hailey Graham and Maleah Evans. Graham had 18 digs and two aces, while Evans had seven digs and two aces. That's the most digs Graham has posted over her last six contests.

They weren't the only good server: Walnut Grove was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Regan Lipsett and Kate Thompson certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Lipsett had nine digs and one assist, while Thompson had eight digs and one assist.

Walnut Grove's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Melissa, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-12.

Walnut Grove and Melissa should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 34th) will meet Denison (ranked 530th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Melissa will square off against Greenville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (187 vs. 471).
