Baseball Recap: Northmont Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

It was close, but on Wednesday the Northmont Thunderbolts sidestepped the Russia Raiders for a 2-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbolts.

Brady Whittaker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drake Sauber, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Northmont's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-12-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Russia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season.

Northmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Russia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oakwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 3.8, the Lumberjacks 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
