Recap: Edgewater Eagles vs. Victory Christian Academy Storm
On Saturday, the Edgewater Eagles faced the Victory Christian Academy Storm in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Edgewater took a 80-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of Victory Christian Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (67), Edgewater still had to take the loss.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Myles Mayfield, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Donovan Williams Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Edgewater's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Victory Christian Academy, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewater will square off against Winter Haven at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Winter Haven's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Victory Christian Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Bartow at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Bartow will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
