Softball Recap: Niagara Falls Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Niagara Falls dropped their record down to 6-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 9-0 to the Grand Island Vikings. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Wolverines were not able to get on the board.

As for Grand Island, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Grand Island's part, not much got past Natalie Kopf, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Niagara Falls off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addy Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Bella Jayme, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Niagara Falls will take on rival North Tonawanda at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wolverines 3, the Lumberjacks 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Grand Island is set to square off against their familiar foe Lockport at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
