Basketball Recap: Covenant Classical Takes a Loss

Covenant Classical was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the McKinney Christian Academy Mustangs, falling 86-33. The Cavaliers lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 64-51 score last time.

Despite the loss, Covenant Classical still got an impressive performance from Ellis Mitchell, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. Mitchell continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Austin Gray was another key player, putting up six points.

Covenant Classical's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for McKinney Christian Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coincidentally, Covenant Classical and McKinney Christian Academy will both be playing Lake Country Christian the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will head out to face the Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cavaliers will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
