Basketball Recap: Whiting Takes a Loss

Whiting was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 27th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 74-26 defeat at the hands of the Marquette Catholic Blazers. The Oilers lost against the Blazers in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 65-52 score last time.

Marquette Catholic was led to victory by Cole Dobre and Vaughn Rael-Kludt. Dobre dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards, while Rael-Kludt went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points. Dobre is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josiah Mays, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points.

Whiting's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Marquette Catholic, their record now sits at 6-11.

Whiting wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-22 defeat against Lowell on the 11th. As for Marquette Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 84-42 win against DeMotte Christian on the 11th.
