Basketball Recap: LEAD Academy Panthers vs. Pearl-Cohn Firebirds
If the LEAD Academy Panthers were riding high off their 71-44 takedown of the Stem Preparatory Academy The Chargers last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. LEAD Academy fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 55-52. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for LEAD Academy in their matchups with the Firebirds: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, LEAD Academy still got an impressive performance from Anthony Petway, who scored 17 points. Darnell Seay was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
LEAD Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Pearl-Cohn, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LEAD Academy will challenge the The Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stem Preparatory Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 395th, while the Panthers are ranked 190th). As for Pearl-Cohn, they will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
