Baseball Recap: Murrieta Mesa's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Murrieta Mesa was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Great Oak Wolfpack, sneaking past 2-0. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Tanner Blackmon's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Murrieta Mesa is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Murrieta Mesa saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Wagner, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. That's the most hits Wagner has posted since back in April.

Murrieta Mesa moved to 14-11 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Great Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-15.

Murrieta Mesa will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolfpack: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
