Baseball Recap: Lyons Comes Up Short

Lyons extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-12. They lost 10-0 to the Gananda Central Blue Panthers. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

As for Gananda Central, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Blue Panthers, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Gananda Central's part, Henry Shutts made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Shutts has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Maddox Stoughton was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony DAgostino, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyons will host Mynderse Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Gananda Central, they will square off against North Rose-Wolcott at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
