Preview: Newton Eagles vs. Highland Bulldogs
Newton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Newton Eagles and the Highland Bulldogs will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Hopefully Newton is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Highland in Illinois (Newton is ranked 102nd, while Highland is ranked 270th).
Last Friday, Newton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 victory over Dieterich.
Meanwhile, Highland unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They suffered a rough 61-41 defeat at the hands of Centralia. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Highland has scored all season.
Newton pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
