Basketball Recap: Lee County Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lee County entered their contest against Apex Friendship on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lee County Yellow Jackets received a blow as they fell 52-34 to the Apex Friendship Patriots. The Yellow Jackets were probably out for revenge after losing 41-40 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kaleah Cotton and Hailey Hughes certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Cotton posted 13 points in addition to five assists and three steals, while Hughes went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and six rebounds. Cotton has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played.

It was another big night for Jasmine Nivar, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds for Apex Friendship. The team also got some help courtesy of Dari Pore, who put up 11 points.

Lee County's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5. As for Apex Friendship, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Lee County will host Pinecrest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Apex Friendship, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Apex at 6:00 p.m.
